Dr. John Wolodko is currently the AITF Strategic Chair in Bio and Industrial Materials, and an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada (co-appointed in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Sciences, and the Department of Renewable Resources). His research focus is the development and characterization of novel bio-based materials from agricultural and forestry feedstocks, and their application in industrial applications.
Dr. Wolodko is a former Executive Director at Alberta Innovates – Technology Futures (AITF) in Edmonton, Canada (formerly the Alberta Research Council), and has over 20 years research & development experience in the areas of advanced materials, manufacturing, testing and engineering design. He is also the former Director of the Materials and Reliability in Oil Sands research program (also known as MARIOS) which is a 35+ member consortium focused on applied R&D and technology development for the oil sands sector. Dr. Wolodko is an active member of various technical organizations including the ASM International, NACE International and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). He is the recipient of the 2015 G. MacDonald Young Award from ASM International, and has garnered the AITF Leaders Award in both 2011 and 2013.
